Sporting Clays originated in England and the British Open, England’s premier sporting clays competition dates back to 1925. Across the pond, Orvis hosted the first American sporting clays championship at its Houston facilities in 1989. San Antonio is headquarters to the National Sporting Clays Association which is the official governing body in the United States and Canada for this exciting sport, and is dedicated to the development of the sport at all levels of participation.

Sporting Clays is the newest and from many folks’ perspective, easily the most exciting clay target game. It is challenging, fun and competitive and has really surged in popularity. We have seen new and experienced participants alike become addicted to the lure of the sport because of its realism to actual field hunting and conditions. Combining different speeds and angles along with different types and sizes of targets is what makes the game so challenging. The targets might be crossing, climbing, incoming, outgoing, quartering away or streaking high overhead. Throw in some appealing topographical features like those offered on our Live Oak Course, and you have a game that truly tests a shotgun shooter’s abilities. Sporting Clays has quickly earned the reputation as being the most fun that you can have with a shotgun - year round!

5-STAND / DOVE TOWER
Fifty targets on our 5-Stand or dove tower is $20.00* for those looking to have a blast or practice their skills.

Our Live Oak Course can be divided into stations of varying skill levels. The targets are identifiable by the game they are designed to imitate, and we have quail flushing along a wooded creek into a hay meadow, rabbits bouncing for cover, ducks landing in a pond or doves whistling overhead. Test your skills on our standard, midi, mini, rabbit, battue and chandelle targets.
Privacy, seclusion, value
If you arrange a morning, afternoon or evening company entertainment, charitable fund-raising or family recreational event in advance, your group can have exclusive use of our facilities.

Check out our new party barn with its large, raised deck to watch the geese flying low overhead or shooters still on the course. Smell the live oak trees and catch all the stars in the clear, unlit sky.
